The Martial Institute Geneva (MIG) offers instruction in various arts including Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Martial Arts, Maphilindo Silat, Muay Thai, Combat Submission Wrestling and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. The training environment is a positive, respectful and friendly one. Students are encouraged to discover all the arts taught in the curriculum, in order to experience the beauty and richness of each. The diverse disciplines complete one another, and amongst them, there is not one that prevails. Practitioners interpret and utilise movements according to their morphology, age, flexibility, agility and endurance, and in function of their goals.
Our philosophy and values
A multi-disciplinary training programme that is focussed on respect for life and embrace of difference is one that leads to a healthier body, mind and spirit. This attitude permits us to help build and live in a society that is more peaceful and welcoming of diversity.
Our martial lineage
Our curriculum is based on the teachings and influence of one of the last grandmasters in martial arts, Magulang Na Guro Dan Inosanto, who explains his viewpoint: “It’s for the love of life and the love of people whom you protect, that you train so hard. You’re really not fighting the person in front of you, but rather, for the person who is behind you. If you don’t keep yourself fit and healthy, how can you protect the people you love?”
For whom ?
We give adult classes that are open to all levels. Enrollment is based on a trial class, and according to the means and motivation by which the individual is able to follow the classes. The minimum age considered is 14-15 years. Since January 2017, we have also opened a martial arts class for children. Focussed on building their self-confidence and respect for others, this fun and challenging class helps the kids to develop a better hand-eye coordination and improves their ability to concentrate and relax. The multi-disciplinary approach exposes them to different historical and cultural facts from around the world.
We hope to see you soon.
